What diseases can mosquitoes carry?
Malaria, West Nile Virus, Denque Fever, Encephalitis What chemicals are associated with the mosquito deleto?
Trap Octenol Lure Ingredients: 1-Octen-3-ol (24.5%) and other ingredients (75.5%) How does the system kill mosquitoes?
Mosquitoes are lured to the trap via the Dynamic Flow Technology.
Carbon Dioxide, Heat and Octenol are dispersed in the air imitating human
breath, body heat, and faint odors from humans and animals. Once
attractant the mosquitoes are sucked in by a powerful fan and get trapped in
a capture chamber made up of a capture door and capture net. Where should the Trap be placed in the yard?
Since mosquitoes live in ground foliage, the Trap should be placed at ground level. Find an area in the yard that is shaded with dense foliage and is blocked from direct sunlight and wind gusts. This area should be approximately 50 feet away from the outdoor gathering. Can the system be used in campsites?
Yes, simply follow the placement directions. How does water affect the mosquito population?
Mosquitoes require a water supply in order to activate their life cycle stages. If no water is present the eggs will remain dormant, even for years. When the water in the area rises, the eggs will become activated and hatch. How does the trap work?
The Trap converts propane to Carbon Dioxide and to a precise body heat profile. Additionally, the Trap emits the Octenol scent which is a natural mosquito attractant. The mosquitoes are then drawn to these particular qualities and become
get sucked into the unit by a powerful fan.. Is the Mosquito Trap safe?
The unit produces low levels of carbon dioxide to attract mosquitoes. The octenol attractant is encased in plastic housing. The linalool is an ingredient commonly used in food products. Refer to instructions for care and use. What components are necessary?
The Trap includes everything you need except for the propane tank. How do I set the Trap up?
- Place the trap at ground level. Mosquitoes live in low-lying foliage. (Stakes are included to secure the Trap in position.)
- Finding the best spot in your yard or campsite can take a little investigating. Look for an area that is shaded, near dense foliage (not blocked) and protected from continuous direct sunlight and wind gusts. You may find more than one area that meets these criteria. Experiment with alternative placement to maximize mosquito capture.
- Place the trap away form where people gather together. We recommend placing the unit approximately 50 feet away from decks and patios.
- Always check the unit after gusty winds to be sure that the unit is operating correctly.
How many mosquitoes will I catch?
This will depend upon placement and the mosquito population density in your area.Do I have to leave the trap on 24 hours a day and why?
The trap works over time to catch active mosquitoes that enter the area. The trap should be used continuously to eliminate newly hatched mosquitoes, migrating mosquitoes, and those carries by the wind.
The inhibitor should be turned on 30 minutes before outside gathering in order to block the mosquito sensors. When are mosquitoes most active?
Mosquitoes are likely to be active at dusk and dawn. Their activity level is high when temperatures are between 60 degrees and 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Mosquitoes will seek shelter on days when temperatures are not in this range or when there are wind gusts above 10 mph.. Trap vs. Zappers?
Zappers use lights to attract bugs and do not target mosquitoes specifically. The trap lures mosquitoes by mimicking the heat, carbon dioxide, and scent animals and humans give off. How often to refill?
The Octenol Lure in the Trap should be refilled monthly. In a cool
weather setting, a 20 pound propane tank will last 45 days or a 16.4 ounce
bottle will last 2.3 days approximately. Why are mosquitoes drawn to humans?
Mosquitoes are capable of detecting carbon dioxide, faint scents, and body heat associated with humans. Humans are a substitute for when a mosquito can not find a more suitable host or meal.
